CUTTING SPRINGS?????

RE: CUTTING SPRINGS?????
If you really want to do it try searching, there was someone on here about a year ago with a really good write up with step by step instructions and pictures. I would never do it, but it won't hurt anything if you do it correctly. If you don't like the way it rides after, you can always buy new springs. Its just double the work. Don't feel bad though, there are plenty of people that buy new springs and hate the way their car sits and rides. HAHA

RE: CUTTING SPRINGS?????
is it a convertible or a coupe? I have a convertible and I will be cutting 1 coil off the back. I'm hoping this will drop me to about 1.5 - 1.75 inches. If you have a coupe it wont be as much of a drop because you wont have all the extra weight the vert have. But if it's not low enough, just pop them out and take another cut.

RE: CUTTING SPRINGS?????
I would consider myself a mustang suspension expert. It is perfectly fine to cut the stock springs. I rolled on cut rear springs for a year and was able to cut 1.6 60' with them. Lowering springs are for looks only, they have no real performance gain and make for a harsher ride. Now people are going to say "you get better handeling withe lowering springs" but guess what that **** is in your head. Cut springs will keep the same ride quality and make for better traction.

That is a very interesting read. Still doesn't make perfect sense to me, but I'll quit arguing

Would you like to explain to me how you alter a non-progressive rate spring, buy cutting some off?
