ok guys, i got a technical question for ya. i have a 96 gt and eventually i want a bigger engine for her, i was lookin into a 351 or 420 or perhaps 331 stroker. my main question is, with all the EFI, ECU computer crap in there for the 4.6 engine, how hard would it be to put a carb engine in there?

Well you don't need the wiring. Its no harder than putting a carb in any FI car.</P>

if you wait a year or two i think you will find a larger modular that will bolt in to your 96gt it will proabaly be right from ford racing. so if i were you i would save your money or do subframe connectors exhaust gears bigger fuel pump etc before you hack your car apart and put an old pushrod in it.<edited><editID>mrfordgt91</editID><editDate>37903.9798148148</editDate></edited>

a carbed engine requires virtually no computer control unlike EFI as it ismostly mechanical so if you do go with that you really wont have any use for yourEEC or ECManymore </P>

also, I must agree with mr ford as I myself will never go back to pushrod again the modular is much more reliable and is much more efficient mechanically not to mention the torque difference. but you can by larger modular blocks right now and build from the bottom up however that will cost you much more than a stroker </P>

replacing bent pushrods sucks </P><edited><editID>crimson tide</editID><editDate>37903.9858449074</editDate></edited>

Build a 5.4 mod bit theres a lot of power that can be harnessed from the 4.6 without the fitment issues of bigger motors.
