Default Tranny Questions?? 6 speed top out, 5 speed gearing

I have been contemplating the idea of a 6 speed conversion but then that got shot down when i found out that the Viper t-56 is the way to go and that cost too much for me. The cobra t-56 is suppose to have the same final drive as my tr3650 but what will that 5th gear top out at.So my question is: What tranny would be the best for my 01 bullitt? - - i like the way my tr3650 is geared EXCEPT FOR 5th. I want more acceleration out of 5th that is why i was thinking 6 speed. Can you guys help out???

If you have the money, do the T-56. You can put 4.30 gears in your car and sill have a daily driver. also, The t-56 can be built so much stronger.

I'm swapping out my 4r70w with a tranny out of a cobra. The weakest thing in a cobra t56 is the input shaft, and that is easily upgradeable. With that the t56 should be fine upwards of 500+ tq.

As for the final gearing, the 6th gear of a t56 is similar to the 5 speed so the extra overdrive gear isnt much help, but the better gearing for 5th in a t56 will allow you to accelerate a bit better than in a t3650, just 6th is a bit useless heh. I'm doing the tranny swap to a cobra t56 cause 1) I'm tired of auto, 2) I autox, 3) its way stronger than a t3650.

Hope that helps a bit.

on the 3650, you go from 4th of 1.00 to 5th of .62, all the cobra t56 does is add add in a .80 between them. i personally love the 3650 in my 03, it stood up to alot of high rpms, and hard launches also.
but the viper t56 is an entire different story. you getmore power handling, but if you wanna run the one with a .50 6th, itl be a **** ton of work. its not easy to go from an electric to a mechanical. you need new guages, tune and im sure theres more. also, dont forget your clutch and flywheel. i know they say it is a true bolt in, but i dont forsee a 10 spline input shaft standing up to 550tq for to long.

I dont know how much different the T56 for the Cobra is than the F-Bodys, but a few upgrades to an F-Body T56 and it can handle TONS of power even without the Viper shaft. Carbon Fiber Blocker Rings, Bronze guides, Steel Forks, and Hardened Keys will take you a long long way. 4.30s in 6th at 75MPH will run about 2200 rpm. The only reason I would rather the T56 over the 3650 is that drop from 4th to 5th in the3650 is one hell of a drop! I like having that usable 5th gear.
