Default Video- What is this noise?

My car had been doing this for about two weeks now. It only seems to do it when it is below freezing and it is the first startup of the day. The noise goes away after the car warms up and has been driven for a few minutes. Is this the timing chain smacking around in there? It seems like the noise is coming more from the middle of the passenger side head, and not from the front? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had been planning on having gears installed in a few days and know I am worried that I should look into fixing this instead. Thanks.

yes its your chain smacking around because the oil has not primed the adjuster....try running a thinner oil in the winter

Default RE: Video- What is this noise?

The car only has 56,000 miles on it. It makes sense that it may be an oil issue, I had it changed only a week before this started. I normally do my own oil changes and only run Mobil 1, but the winter hasn't let up here in Ohio so i had to take it to a service shop. I'm not exactly sure what they put in it, but I might try to find out tomorrow. I did check the oil level and it is right where it should be. Is this causing any damage with the car running like this at start-up, and does this mean the the rest of the engine is not getting primed with oil either? Are the chain guides put under more stress than usual when the tensioner is not fully tightened? Should I go ahead and put Mobil 1 back in the car or is it o.k. to leave the oil that is already in there. Thanks, and sorry for all the questions......

To be sure, buy a mechanics stethoscope $5 at harbour freight tools, and poke around to see where its coming from.

I would bet its the chain guides as well. Can't do anything now except maybe try new oil and see if it gets worse.
