Default Homemade MIL Eliminator How To(Pictures)

Materials Needed:

1) Time - 15-30 minutes.
2)Solder Iron
3)Solder (High Temp)
4)Electrical Tape

Go To Radio Shack.......

5) Part # 2761388 - PC Board Terminals (1) - Comes with 4 in a pack, its all you need for both eliminators.
6) #2760148 - PC Board - Only need one, break it in half to use for both eliminators.
7) #2721434 - MFD Capacitor (2) - Get 2 of these.
8) #2711356 - 5 Pack of 1/4 Watt Resistors.
9) Some 20 gauge wire. I had this laying around at home.

Now hopefully you got all the stuff you need. It all cost me $9.34USD after tax for all the radio shack materials listed above.

First thing, open up the PC Board and break it in half. You now have 2 pieces. Place one of the PC Board Terminals(blue) on each end of the board. See pictures below if you are confused.

Next flip over the board and grab the orange capicator. Solder it to each lead on one of the terminals. This will connect it to both wires. Next grab one of the resistors and solder one end to one of the terminals, and the other end to the other terminal across the board. (see pictures)

Next grab that 20 gauge wire and cut off a couple inches. About the same length as that resistor was. Do the same thing with it as you did with the resistor except on the other side of the 2 terminals. Now grab a sharpie and mark the side with the resistor before you tape. Mark the terminal, because when you tape it you you will not be able to se which side had the resistor and which side had the wire. This is important, so dont forget or you will have to retape everything up afterwords.

Take a minute and check all solder connections and make sure its all tight. Grab some electrical tape and start taping the poop out of it. Keep the terminals sticking out. After you have a little tape on it, fold that orange capicator over and tape over it also.

You should now be done with one eliminator. Start over and make another one since you will need two.

I didnt have time to finish today and show the install, I will respond to this post and show you how with pictures. Basically what you do is get under your car and find the two rear 02 sensors.

There are 4 wires, Black, Grey, and 2 white ones. You may have to cut all 4 of the wires and extend them a little for the install, some you may not. If you do, mark one of the white wires before you cut them so you will know which end to hook it back to. It does matter.

When installing, the end with the orange capicator will be on the side of the wiring harness comming from the car, not the sensor itself . The resistor will go in line with the grey wire in that harness. So Cut the grey wire, and splice the ends. Screw the terminal screw out and place one end of the grey wire in one side and tighten it down. Remember, the grey wire goes on the terminal which had the resistor in line with it. The black wire goes on the other side. After its hooked up, take some more tape and tape the poop out of it all once again to make sure its water tight. Depending on how far you extended the harness, you may need to use something ti protect it from the heat. Local autopart stores should have the spark plug boot sleeves which could be used to protect from heat. I will get pictures of the install up on the next sunny day.

LOL. Just offering, you can make um yourself real easy, theres a guys selling um in the for sale if you dont want to make them. I didnt come up with the plan, I found a few howtos on it but none had real detailed pictures. Made it to help.

Did the same thing without the board, was a little hard to ensure that there wasn't a short, but I wrapped it up pretty tight. Worked well for a couple months, now my driver's side one has a short and it's too cold, I don't want to fix it I'll get it when it gets warmer, I have a new resistor and capacitor (not like I will need them, but just in case, they're cheap).

If you skip the board, I'd say invest in heat shrink tubing for the connection! Electrical tape alone won't do it.

there is an easier way that costs under $10. gat 2 packs of 18mm sparkplug none foulers, drill 2 of them out so you can screw it all the way onto the o2 sensor. then screw the undrilled fouler on to the drilled one, reinstall o2 sensor. this makes the car think there is still a cat on the car. I used this method on my 00gt for 2 years with no lights coming on.
p.s. get the short non foulers
