Hey guys. I am new to the forum and I am learning as I go. I have seen a few posts about gearing 3.73, 4.10, etc. I know it sounds ingorant, but are you talking about replacing the entire rear axle of the car? If so what do the numbers represent and what do they get you? I am just trying to learn as I go and I am enjoying reading all the posts.

Thanks in advance.

no he's keeping the axles, just changing the ring and pinion gear. for a 4.10:1 gear the pinion turns 4.1 times per every 1 time the ring turns, giving the car more low end pull.

The stock pinion is 3.3 so I gather that by using a 4.1 you get more low end torque out of it. So this would make it quicker of the line. Wow I bet that is fun to drive.

Read the link that I posted up above. In the beginning of the instructions it gives a brief explanation of how the gears work. It's quick and to the point, and does a good job, in my opinion. Hope it helps, and feel free to ask as many questions as you want. We'd rather have someone asking questions and learning than opening their ingnorant mouths and disseminating false information any day.

hahahaha you all are wrong

01gt4.6 i am replacing the rear axles to 31 spline, rear diff, and 4.10 gears.

jag i have a mach and the stock gearing for the mach is a 3.55. not a 3.27 like the gt. and im keeping the housing just swaping out the internals.

and im not being a jackass about it.
