Some may argue that they require no wear in period, I know I was banging gears like 15 miles down the road. That said 200 miles is often considered the "break in" period.

Many say gears have a break in period so they won't whine. Some say that if they don't whineas soon as you install them, then they won't whine at all. I personally waited about 300 miles. IMO if the install is done properly, you have nothing to worry about.

I had my 3.90's installed almost 2 weeks ago and asked the installer the same ?. He said he used to install gears and take the same car racing at Atco the same day.

No break in time needed and no noise from the gears!

Hey guys, I wanted to purchase 4.10's myself and was wondering if the install is complicated?? Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction? Also, if I should have to pay for the installation, what is the average price for a gear install?

Thanks

You don't want to install gears yourself unless you really know what you're doing and have the right tools to do it.

Installation runs anywhere from $150-$400.

My installer(also my friend's father) suggested 300-350 miles before doing some serious gear banging. he said that he has seen people bring back gears with less than 500 miles that are practically melted together. Whether not these gears were poor quality or just the driver's error

Gears need nothing more than a few heat cycles. Nothing more.
