Default Diff. Bearing?

Im going to replace my differential bearings (are they also called carrier bearings??). Will I need to set up the gear lash again? From looking at it it looks like i could pull the whole posi unit out without having to touch the shims, but i could be completely wrong. Any ideas??

what do you mean differential bearings, thats pretty vauge. There are many. Carriers are on the sides of the carrier.

someone with expierence.... Youre too confusing. You know what you wanna replace. The bearings on the side of the carrier. Correct.... this is what im getting from youre story. You will remove the carrier and have the old ones pressed off, then pressed back ON. You remove the shims before doing this and you use the same ones. Make sure you mark them to which way them came out and keep them on their own sides. Back lash will be the same when they came out.

Pinion bearing - 2

Axle bearings - 2
