Can get the Ford Racing Performance Products gears from Jegs or Summit or most speed shops. The gears themselves will run about 170 to 190. You coulf get them directly from Ford as well. Total outlay on gears and having shop install them will get you for about 350 to 400 bucks.

Ask around first if you are not real familiar with any good shops in your area.

wow this thread blew up lol. Im not going to get involved with the intellectual battle however i will say this...

I see valid points on both sides but I guess it all boils down to the consumers desires aesthetically. I prefer the 94-98 bodystyle over the 99+ now IMO you are going to save money purchasing the 96-98 model andaltering the heads & intake. i say this because the price difference between the 2 generations usually falls around 4k. in conclusion you save 3k purchasing the 96-98 and modifying the heads etc. to 99+ standards being that the modification would only cost you approximately 1-1.5k especially if you are installing it yourself therefore, you save about 2.5-3 thousand dollars. even if you were to get your block port & polished you still wouldnt pay as much for all that, a 96-98 than for a bone stock 99+GT. and ill tell you right now if im gonna buy new heads they arent going to be stock PI heads from the 99+ lol

I was assuming new cars.I like to get my cars new so I know basically every mile on them. Unless I plan on rebuilding anyways.

But yes, if one was to purchase the two now, you would save overall with the older style.

Also, it all is a matter of opinion on the body style. I personally do not care for the 94-98 style. Won't really get into how much I don't like them. he he

And yes, if you are going to get heads, there are better ones out there now than the bone stock PIs.

I agree with you crimson, I love the 94-98 body style. Just a matter of personal taste. Love the curves, which the newer ones lack. Plus they look more slender. Not to say the new ones look bad, because I still think they look good, I just prefer the older style. I was thinking of trading the '96 in for an identical '01 GT convertible, but after thinking about it couldn't bare to part with it. Admittedly the increase in power was very tempting, but like you said, new heads and intake, and BODDA-BING, you're rollin' with the new guys in no time. I got mine used because I don't like the added expense of buying a new car. I'd rather spend less and dump the saved money into upgrades. Hey...did you guys by any chance check out the other post about that website with the unbelievably low prices?? I think it's a scam personally...sounds too good to be true.

Plus, if I ever did trade it in, you can bet it would be a hardtop...convertible is nice in nice weather, but between the added weight and top maintenance, from a performance standpoint, I think next time it will be a hardtop.

Great deal passed along to the other boarders by a guy who obviously just joined to pass that great info along and never came back

I had a chance to get a vert for about 1500 more than mine when I got mine. I could not bring myself to deal with the weight and leaks.

And it was auto. Bleh
