Default 2V Twin - Intake manifold suggestion - turbo lag - dyno curves inside.

Hi all,

We have a 2V stroked to 5.0, with 61mm BB twins. The turbo lag is very big I see the biggest problem being a Reichard racing intake manifold (too much volume)

The car is running on pump gas (95RON).

Do you think that switching to some other intake would help? if so, which one would you recommend.

Really appreciate your help.

Here are the dyno sheets:

whats the a/r of the turbos.. 61 is pretty big for twins, your compressor a/r should be no more than .9 ish and you really be in the .6-.7 range

Those turbos have way to big exhaust housings. Your not running the right turbo's for your set up. You could always use nitrous to spool em up. Alot of people are using this technique. And auto or manual? cause your tourque numbers can't be right. thats higher than some of the most bad *** diesel trucks i have seen. you either spun the tires on the dyno or you have a slipping clutch.

Excuse me for being nosy, but does that chart say you made 748hp and 2810ft/lb at the rear wheels? I don't get it.

Those turbos are huge! Just taking forever to spool.... swap to smaller turbos.

I don't think the intake is the problem. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to turbos, but you shouldn't have any problems with a reichard racing manifold at 20+psi. No way. The problem is more likely the size of the turbos, more specifically the turbine impeller size/design may not be correctly matched for your application.

I'll check the A/R once I have the car again this afternoon/tomorrow morning.

Chart corrected, this a loading type dyno, it express the torque in "axle torque" by default, this a chart with the corrected torque (axle_torque/final_gear), 3.73 in this case.

The car has a T56. (among tons of other goodies)

That dyno sheet looks alot better than the first one. Those really aren't taking that long to spool, what size and what boost are you running?

The turbos are way to big for a that car. You can't create enough exhaust flow to spool those things like you want. You need to swap those things out.

As for the intake go with a good short runner intake like the edelbrock. The trick flow is a mid length intake which will work also. Richard racing is a long runner intake and not good for your application. Your drop in boost after you have made it makes me think you have a bad choice in intake and bad choice in cams.

What else do you have done to the car? What is the exhaust duration on the cam? what size valves are you running?
