Hey all, new first time Cobra owner. I love this car, but I really don't like the heat extractor hood. This may be blasphemous to some of you, but I'm wondering if a 99-04 style GT hood with a hood scoop (which I guess really makes it the 01-04 style) will fit on the 01 Cobra? I know there's some fit issues between the GT and the 03/04 Cobra due to some differences in the bumper, but I can't find any info comparing the GT to the 99/01 Cobra...

If anyone knows this answer for certain, I'd appreciate hearing it.

ps, do you know if removing the heat extractor hood will cause the engine any pain? Could I do anything to counter it like increasing the fan timings or using a 180* thermostat or something like that?

i dont see why it wouldnt fit. i have a 01 cobra front bumper and it fits fine with my stock gt hood.

I hate that hood, too.

The GT hood will fit. Some of the 03-04 V6's used the 99/01 Cobra hood also, and their front bumper is exactly the same as the GT's. They also came with the GT hoods with the scoop. It should fit no problem.

Roger that Xemeth, I have noticed that hood on the V6s, but I never got a solid look, couldn't tell if it was really the same hood or just something similar...

I like the '99-'01 Cobra hood. If you don't notice the Cobra badges its easy to mistake the car for a V6. Its funstomping on Civics and such that think they are revving on a sixxer at a light.

Actually, I *am* interested in trading for a black GT hood with the hood scoop. Louisianna is a bit out of driving range, and yeah shipping 2 hoods makes it an unattractive prospect...
