Default Forged Block

So where are some good places to get a forged shortblock? I already know of MMR, but where else can I look? Also, may be a dumb question, but will a 03-04 Cobra shortblock work with 2v heads?

DSS makes pretty decent shortblocks.

And technically an 03/04 shortblock will work with 2v heads, but why? if you are gonna go forged, you might as well do a 4v swap as well. I'd look into swappin a whole 03/04 motor in

Would a 99-01 longblock be the same as a 03-04?

No, the 99-01 Cobra longblock has different rods/pistons and heads/cams as the 03/04. The 03/04 has a steel crank, manley rods, and forged pistons (I'm pretty sure someone correct me if not) Also, 03/04 heads flow a little better box stock.

Cause a 03-04 cobra engine costs about 10 grand. A forged shortblock costs about $2500-3000.
MMR, Modular Power House, DSS, Sean Hyland Motorsports, Haney Motorsports, Coast High Performance, and several others.
I'm in the same boat, I can't decide which to go with. I've heard tons of great things about MPH, and of course SHM is like a legend in building Mod motors.

I was thinking used rather than new. But to each his own. I just figured if hes gonna spend the cash for a forged motor, why not spend the extra now for some 4v heads

I hear you man, I was thinking the same thing til I saw what that used ones are going for about 7 thousand. I wish I could find a good deal on a 03-04 cobra engine, then my mind would be made up for me

If you decide on MMR definitely don't go with their long block. The short blockshould be fine, kind of hard to mess them up much.

After checking out the cobra motors on eBay I think an MMR block (the 5.0 950 on sale for $3300) plus PnP heads would be the best route. I would like to stay 2v just to minimize additional parts. Plus a 700hp 2v is pretty sick. Oh well I got a while before I can get anything.... just kinda wishin now. (Wishing the block will blow so I can convince my wife a new motor is necessary lol).
