Default 4.6 reliable?

just brought home a 02GT convert.w/ auto. Just wondering about the reliability of these cars, what to watch out for ect.[sm=feedback.gif]

they are fairly bulletproof with the stock power and can handle alot more before you need forged internals.

IMO the tranny is the weak link.....never heard of problems with the auto though so you should be cool.

i heard that anything from 01+ is perfectly fine and that you should have no problems with it. It should be good for ya up to about 150k if you plan on keeping it that long.

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask that before you bought the car? 3650 Trans is crap...other than that you should be ok.

my car's been beat up for over 100K miles. i met the previous owner and he told he dogged the **** out of it, but always did the maintenance. with 132K my car makes 300 rwhp and runs great no major problems in the 2 years i've owned it.

it left me stranded once, with a busted crank pulley. but the 4.6 has a tendency to do that when it gets up in mielage. it'll leave you stranded requiring a tow, but it's not too expensive a fix.
