Default P.I. Swapped guys....

When you did the PI heads and PI intake swap, were you able to do it with the motor still in the car? I ask because even though I have a 2003, I'm basically doing a PI swap on steroids soon:

Patriot Stage IIHeads
Cushman Stage II N/A Cams
Trickflow Track Heat Intake Manifold

and all the writeups I've found so far for head swaps or head installation stuff of any kind, generally has the whole block outta the engine bay...when I'm outta school in May I'm gonna just spend a whole week elbow deep in the car and hopefully I'll be able to pull it off without pulling the motor....

also, would having the heads off make it any easier to get longtubes on?

I was looking around the compartment the other day when I was changing the oil and it looks like it may give me a little more room....but I still prob gotta drop the K member right?

I pulled the heads with the motor still in the car. Then I dropped my trans to do a clutch and I figured "what the hell," might as well pull the motor. It can be done without pulling the whole engine. It's just a lot easier. And by the way, LETS GO RANGERS! Ha ha [8D]...

Did mine with the motor in the car.. It was a little more work, but not that bad. I didn't have to drop my k-member to do it. It made my headers alot easier to do, although I went with shorties not lt's. Makes it easier to get all the bolts tight!Watch out for that ****** dipstick tube. I think that was the biggest headache!
