THATS NOT TRUE ABOUT THE ABS PUMP, the system does not function that way, you can bleed the brakes normally, take a 20oz coke bottle and drill a hole through the cap big enough for a 8mm hose to fit through, put the hose through the hole and run it to the bottom of the bottle, leave enough hose hanging out to reach your bleeder screws, wire tie the hose under and above the cap, pour a few onces of brake fluid in the bottle and screw the cap back on, open your bleeder screw and attach the hose, pump the pedal as many times as you think you need to,, to get the air out, just dont let the resevoir go dry, do this on every wheel in the order that its suppose to be done and you should be free of air, its even better if someone can watch the bottle for air bubbles,--its just a poor mans brake bleeder!

When doing a full system bleed especially with ABS you should look up manufacturer's specs before doing it. They will give you a sequence and I am pretty sure you need a scan tool to bleed the ABS on our cars.

you dont need anything to bleed the brakes, the abs does not remain closed when the key is off, its always a pass thru design unless its operating, i.e. slamming on the brakes and the pedal pulsates do to the abs solenoid valves closing to relieve pressure so the wheels dont lock, just read your service manual, if you have one .

A lot of good info here guys. I am planning on doing this when my brakes and rotors go (when I got it inspected in Oct, the guy said they were ready to go at any time...still hasn't happened yet...lol).

We'll I was just saying what happened with my car. I spent hours trying to bleed the car and was told by several people (Including mechanics at the ford dealership), that pumping the brakes will set the abs off even with the key off. Ford bleeds the brakes with the ignition on anyways.
Anyways, Just take the car to a shop and get them to bleed it with there machines. It cost me $30 and would have saved me 3 hours in the first place.

Oh, Lastly, I originally had Hawk pads on the car and they would not allow the caliper pistons to move the 1/16" that they needed to properly move the pistons and the fluid. I had to go back using stock pads orhave my new rotors turned.
