Default Just did cobra brake swap...soft pedal.

As it says I just did the 13 inch conversion on my 1996 GT, the only thing is that the top of the pedal has about 2 inches of soft play then a firm brake. What is this? I bleed the system, starting at the back and moving up. I checked for leaks and everything was good. The only thing I did special was get Steel lines from a local fabricator....what is going on.

I just upgraded to cobra brakes as well w/out the steel lines. I think you have air in your brake lines and would re-bleed them.

Try bleeding the actual break reservoir. There should be bleeder valves on the left side of the reservoir when looking at it from the front of the car. be careful though. those bleeder valves might break. I had the same thing. Lines were tight and no leaks, as well as solid streams coming out of the calipers. good luck.

Either its the reservoir as meatball (lol) said or air as tri stated. Bleed both, then your bound to be good to go.

Do the reservoir first then the lines. Anytime the system is drained all the way down you need to bleed the reservoir.

I just did a re bleed on the brakes...working better now. I want to try the resorvior but will I have to re bleed the lines too if i do it? Also, how do I bleed it? Just do the pedal hold like the lines or is there a different method.

I just did mine and had the same problem. But my air was in the ABS control thing (can't remember the name) and the only way to get it out was to take it to a shop that has a special machine to do it.

Oh yea, one last thing, your not supposed to pump the break when bleeding. It locks the ABS sensor and will not allow you to bleed the car correctly.

So what's the correct procedure to avoid hosing the ABS unit ?

Push brake pedal to floor
Hold down.
Open bleed screw.
Close screw.
Let pedal go.
Don't let resovoir go dry.

Is that the proper way?
