The factory Ford speakers come with a "blade" type connector that is pop riveted onto the speaker framewith the leads soldered to the connector. Sometimes you can rig the stock connector to work but most of the times you have to cut it off to wire up replacement speakers correctly. Plus most replacement speakers are 4 ohm units, the factory ones are 2 ohm. This causes a poping or cutting out at high volume levels if you just swap in the speakers.

You should check the audio section in the forums, but yes you can buy a plug adaptor from crutchfield that will plug into the factor harness and let you hook up the speakers. I am assuming you are talking about the subs (6x8) and not the tweeters. Only problem you will have by hooking up aftermarket speakers to your stock system, is that your amps will not be able to supply enough power to run them at full power, you can still listen to your music, just can't turn it up past 1/2 to 3/4 volume or the amp will temp cut out (depending on bass level)

Check out the Audio/Visual electronics section in the forum, lots of info that you can find in there
