Default Triax Short Throw

I've been lookin at short throw's for some time now, and I figure it's the best way to go. I know it will help with secure shifts, and the spring-loaded 3rd will obviously be beneficial. I do have a question though. With the spring loaded 3rd, does that make it any harder to down shift to third from fourth, or to second from third? Does the spring put excess strain on the tranny?

Thanks for the replies.

Shifting in a Tri-Ax is nice. I have one and I think it shifts fine...Upshifting and down shifting. That 3rd gear is sweet....I never miss 3rd now.

I really like my tri-ax. The spring doesn't make it harder to downshift at all, it makes everything easier.

Default Too Slow to change?

I have a question about some gears. I undestand that you swap top end speed for acceleration. If I got 3:90's how much will that take off my top speed?

Car's stock.

I thought that it sacrifices some top speed?

no you just rev at higher RPM's. The simple way of explaining it to you would be to say that you swap top speed for rpms, but thats really not correct. You could run 4.10s and have just as high of a top speed. It may actually be possible to have a higher top speed due to the fact that you have more torque.

BTW don't get 3.90's get either 3.73's or 4.10's made by Ford.

Well you definitely wont get MORE top end because of torque, and btw gears dont give you more torque just shorter faster geards., but you will hardly lose any at all. Once you hit 5th gear (overdrive) you can still truck up to a good speed. But who cares about a high top end, if you lose any, you wont notice it, because who hauls around at 140+ all the time?? You won't care about top end when you get gears. You have to have them to understand.
