Default 4.10's girlfriend

My girl took my car to some guyt hat she knows that is friends of her dads to get my gears put in. All I had to pay for was 150 for the gears that he sold me. They are Ford Racing gears so they are good. So she did some work but he did most of it since he knew what he's doing ( been doing it for 20+ years). So I get my car back and there is noise coming from the rear end. He said that it will do that for acouple days till the gears get worn in. Is this true? the noise isnt very loud when accel but when i let go of the gas and slow it makes a sound that is best described as a plane landing (semi-loud)........ Are these put in wrong? or just noisey gears?

Everything I searched had one of the other as the answer and I was confused by the backlash noise and the difference of noisey gears? in my opinion i dont think they should be doing this?

I have an auto, and i put in FRPP 4.10's with the Motiverebuild kit and install kit with royal purpal oil

I will say this.

My buddy had some gears put into his mustang a few months ago.The shopsaid dont run it hard for about 500 miles, but nothing about "you will hear some DIFFy noise". When we were comming home from the shop, there was no "airplane" landing. I hear noiselike that isnta "good" thing.

Take it to another shop and just have them listen to it and see. Theymight tell you its ok, or they are installed wrong.

Gear whine is not good. Install wasn't done correctly, or gears were used/abused before you got them.

No its not normal, it didnt install them correctly. Gears arent the easiest thing to install some shops wont even do them, they need to be done by a proffesional.

my gears have had a slight whine since I got them.

but it definately isnt a plane landing..

more like a faint whirring/humming at certain rpms.
