Default Problems w/ Mileage....

Hello folks as you can tell I am new here to Mustang forums. I have a very interesting question I would like to have answered please. I recently purchased a 99 GT Stang (I love it btw) anyways sometimes when I am driving down the road I noticed that the mileage which is digital would be blank and not reading anything then sometimes when I shut the engine off and restart it the mileage is correct and works.....this is very odd to me do any of you guys have any suggestions.

I just posted a similiar question about my '01 before I read this. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem! Does your traction control turn off too when this happens?

Surley others have had this happen and knows a fix??

This might be way off base, but I know that a lot of Ford Trucks around the 99-0X range have wiring problems in the dash.

Either the mileage will go blank and randonly turn on, or the windshield wipers randomly set themselves off.

As for the T/C question. If you do not have the button down at the bottom by the shifter, then no. You're car is not equipped with traction control.

Traction control was an option on 99's I know, I'm not sure if sometime from 00-04 it became standard on GT's or not, but that doesnt matter.

All Ford did, was equip the car with a system that either cut fuel or retarded timing (something to cut power) when it sensed wheel slippage.

No differnet than any other kind of low traction helping system that can be found on tons of other cars.

I do know that a lot of people don't like it because its not very advanced. Snow is a biggy for some of the members here that dont like having power stolen when they get slippery in winter.

Personally, I dont mind it. It's saved my car 2 times, and embarrasssed me 10 times. ..lol..i'll take the embarrassment any day of the week.

Mine doesnt say if its on or not. The foot being off the pedal and the car still going tells me that...lol.

Not sure what to tell you about the light, or whats actually causing your mileage to not show up.

Maybe someone on here has experience and has fixed it up.
