Default What just happened?

I emailed my dealership about 4.10 gears and how much it would cost to buy from them, and to install from them. Also if it would void any part of my warranty. Here is the email I received from them:

"LABOR WOULD BE $904.00 AND PARTS WOULD BE $831.41.

AS FAR IS I KNOW YOUR WARRANTY WOULD BE STILL 3YR ,36000 MILES"

um is this some kind of joke? I found it kinda funny at first, now I'm just confused. If this was a joke, that is very unprofessional of them, all I wanted was a estimate, anyone have comments on this?

That is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call them and ask for a complete, detailed parts list with prices for each.

Maybe that's their way of saying that they don't want to do it, or that they have no idea what they are doing and they think it requires a whole new rear end. Anyone giving an estimate like that is completely incompetant.

thats why it's called a stealership......... maybe they are just charging you extra since they are allowing you to keep your warranty, seems like gears should void it....

well , putting on a new belt and electric fan motor was 658$ from a dealership, the charge 50$ an hour labor i think. Take your car to some local shop, they HAVE to do a good job, thats how they stay in business.

Last time I wandered into a dealership around here (NY) they were charging $72 an hour for mechanical work. The price they gave you for parts has to be way off but the price for labor may be correct. Scary isnt it?

even if they were charging $100 an hour, 9 hours to change some gears? yea, right.
