RE: crank pulley install ... HELP QUICK PLEASE
whats a grade 8 bolt and whats going on here , why cant i just use the original bolt that held the stock crank pulley in place, im sure its a good bolt ... and my question was do i need to torque the bolt to fords specs or can i just tighten it as hard as i can. can someone help me

RE: crank pulley install ... HELP QUICK PLEASE
a grade 8 bolt is a strong ace bolt, I think that was in reply to you saying you were gonna crank it down as hard as you could. just re-use the stock one and I'd torque it if I knew the specs, other wise tighten it up good and use your better judgement

RE: crank pulley install ... HELP QUICK PLEASE
so if i get a grade 8 bolt i can tighten it down as much as posible... im confused... are the torque specs so that the bolt doesnt break or so that the crank pulley and crank dont get messed up... thats what im worried about, i dont want to tighten it too much and break things, but i dont have a torque wrench and i dont want to get one

you dont need a grade 8 bolt, re use the stock on and just tighten it up real good, I doubt you will break it, unless you have got a lot of leverage. But what I would do to be safe is either call up ford in the morning, get the specs, and borrow a torque wrench from someone.
