Default What should a 2002 GT idle at rest?

I saw in another post that a guy said his GT idled at rest at 750rpm.....I idle at 500rpm on the nose...

Should I be higher or does it matter....I just had a tune up and the engine runs fine....was wondering what is normal?

Got an 04' GT and I idle at about 750-800. I took all the slack out of the throttle though.

All mustangs i have ever seen seem to idle in the range of 750-850 at rest... i would sugest a few phone calls to for dealership and reputable shops to see what they say... it may just be the way your engine likes to idle

mine idles at about 700 then randomly it'll jump for a second or two to 1000 or 1200 then it'll drop down to 500 then back to about 700 for a while.........every single mustang i've ever driven (86 GT, 88 GT vert, 96 GT vert, and my '00 GT.) has done the very same thing.

Our 02 GT idles kinda low too. At around 600RPM warm. At times it feels like it is on the verge of dying. WTF? I am gonna take it in to Ford soon, before the end of warranty.

Mine used to idle at 700, after the new MAF and densecharger, it idles at 600rpm... Give it a lopy sound... Me gusta.

Yea, mine Idles at 750rpm. I would say 500rpm is too low.

500 is low. Is it an automatic? I have mine set at 630 (predator tuner), but it always idled around 600 stock.
