Default 99 GT Tranny Question

I have a 99 GT with a 5 spd man. and about 90,000 miles on it. Don't know a ton of the history with the car i just got an awosme deal on it last weekend.

There is a whine coming from the transmission that goes up and down with RPM. It also makes a sound like it's winding up when down shifting. It will pop out of reverse sometimes, and when putting it in 1st gear it feels like that is a little catch preventing it from going in 1st, but it goes in you just have to push a little.

I have no clue the milage on the clutch, could this be causing all my problems?

Any ideas on what it could be? And what is the most economical way to fix this, new tranny, rebuilt, have this one rebuilt, buy a rebuild kit, or get one off ebay.

Thanks for any ideas or thoughts.

my bro has the same problem with his matrix.
6th gearkept poppingout.
the dealer said that the gear was worned out.
they replaced it and it's now fine.
as for 1st, i think it's normal on our cars.

sounds like the tranny needs a rebuild, these are not clutch related problems. my old t45 was doing the same thing, i snatched it out and dropped in a built 3650 i bought used for a good price. if ur not familiar with a manual tranny i suggest buying a used one.
