Default spark advance???

I just got my diablo predator tuner and I installed the preset diablo performance tune but it did not change the spark advance or retard, I don't think any way. My ? is.....(and please don't slam me for not knowing)should I advance or retard the spark? there is 2 different rpm bands too, 2k-4k and 4k-7k. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

If there isnt any problems with the stock diablo tune, i would just leave it alone unless you get a custom tune. What i mean by problems is if the motor pings then back back off the timing (not advance timing)until its doesnt ping. Some motors do some dont with the diablo tune.

I don't have any pinging or anything but I have read on here before about people changing the spark. What is the benefit of changing the spark?

Well if you increase the timing it could make it faster acceleration but not that much and if u do, do it within reason. Dont mark my words im no professional but the more u advance the motor the more of a chance you have of denation(or blowing ur motor). If you keep it about were it is you can run crappy 91 octane fuel and not have any problems.

I guess I will just leave it then, the highest octane i can get is 91 here. If there is anything else I should change let me know. Thanks again for all the advise?

You can advance the timing from the "diablo performance tune". It is still fairly conservative. Try going to "6" in the 2k-4k AND 4k-7k range and you shouldn't have any problems.

You can probably even run the air fuel a little leaner and still be safe.

if you put it on all the way you will feel a huge increase in power, i just did mine yesterday, always check for pinging though, i backed mine back down to 8 on both rpm ranges.

Umm...just spend a few hundred more and get a kick *** tune with a dyno! I would never mess with A/F ratios unless my car was on a dyno. That's just asking for trouble.

edit: Timing also messes with A/R indirectly when you adjust it.
