Gears, plain and simple. Do nothing else but put in 3.73 gears and you won't believe it is the same car....guaranteed! Worth every penny and then some due to the "wow" and "fun" factor. Don't be timid. Just do it. Without the gears your car is about a 145 mph vehicle. You may come down to 135 or so with gears but that is not where the fun is at not to mention one wrong fart at that speed and you are toast.

A couple of other mods worth mentioning are the Accufab plenum and underdrive pulleys. I have both on my '98 GT auto (wife can't drive a stick) along with a Ford Racing 70mm throttle body and the car is as smooth as glass. Not one problem of any kind......except when I ran over some road rash coming out from underneath a truck in highway rush hour traffic....it very surgically removed my two back oxygen sensors. Accufab flows the most CFM and showed the largest total increase in HP and torque over the other competition. The 75mm throttle body really didn't show any improvements over the 70mm with the Accufab. I think you would have to be force inducted to really gain there.

If you want to go nuts with power and cost (they kind of go hand in hand), just get a blower of some kind and realize a cool 50 to 100+ HP gain. But, you really should freshen your engine at the same time unless you have very low miles otherwise things could come apart on you.....not a nice feeling when it does.

Gears....they are your real solution. Have fun with your ride and don't lose heart. That Acura probably cost way over $15,000 more than your Mustang when new. For just $3,000 or less you would absolutely toast it! One last option......buy a Cobra!

The gears wont change your top speed at all. May take a little longer to get there, but it just makes the gear longer, not more restrictive.

There are dyno sheets showing a 16hp gain to the wheels with PI intake...
Im not talking Cold air intake.. we are talking about an intake manifold

next thing im doing to my car is gears... i wanna to break into the 9's in my stang.... i can do that with just practice but i want it now!!! so what is the difference between the accufab plenum and the C&L plenum? i heard they are about the same but im not sure?

the heads will give you more than that.

accufab is a better plenum and dyno proven to give you more hp than the other brands granted its like 2 or 3 more plus its nice to look at

Good post other than the mis-information about top speed. Top speed will actually increase with a shorter gear change thanks to our poorly geared transmissions and weak HP stock

anything shorter than stock gears IE 373,390,410 will take away from your top speed... if u get longer gears than stock, which i dont know why anyone would, then your top speedwill increase

Not true... With a shorter gear you will be better in the powerband in 5th gear and be able to pull a little bit higher up top.... The reason our cars top out about 150 stock is because they arent in the powerband in 5th gear to push them any faster
