Default Engine question - need response ASAP

Hey,

So I just finished doing my PI swap and I'm going to fire her up in a little bit. Chilton's says I should pull the boots off the spark plug and leave the fuel pump off and crank it over a few times to build up oil pressure, then reattach the boots and fuel pump and fire it up. Does this sound right?

Thanks!
-Tyler

I just fired it up after the swap. Oil pressure will build up in a minute or so. It'll be loud until then, so don't freak out. Congrats... And by the way, get a tune! Ha ha.

Yeah, that would be a good way of building up your oil preassure while minimizing the amount of time the engine is minimally lubricated.

Of course I can't get to mustangforums.com from my house >.> (Posted it at work, left for home 10 mins later and couldn't check it when I got home). I did this and it fired right up on the first try. Definitely going to get a tune... Are the canned tunes from bamachips or brenspeed any good for a PI swapped car? or is a dyno tune better

Dyno tune FTW!
Mail order tunes suck.

that would be a good idea as it will allow the cam journals to recieve oil without the strain of the motor actually running.
