I was on my way to meet up with some buddies tonight and my Tach dropped to 0 rpms (engine still running fine) then the ABS light came on, and then the speedo dropped to 0. The car was still running at this point. I approached a stop light. when it went green and I gave it gas, the car sputtered and died (the battery gauge dropped to about 6 volts. After I got it parked, it wouldn't start. I had my buddy meet up with me in his car, and when a jump is hooked up, the car idles fine and i can give it as much gas as I want. As soon as the cables are removed, my interior lights go dim and the volts drop back down to around 6-8 and the car sputters out and dies. Any suggestions?

You my friend have a bad Alt. Mine did the same thing when my alt went out

would it just go dead all of the sudden like that?

Yup it sure would, I would be almost willing to bet that it's your alt.

well I borrowed an alternator from my buddy's t-bird, got a jump start, and she fired right up. thanks again!
