aftermarket headlamps on ebay?
Quick question... I have a 00 GT and want to change the headlights from the stock clear lens to the smoked style like those that come on the 01-04 models. Any of you have experience with the smoked aftermarket headlights that are sold on ebay?

RE: aftermarket headlamps on ebay?
Hello,
I have a 99GT that the lenses were badly faded, tried polishing them but were too far gone.
I purchased a smoked pair from 1AAUTO on eBay (ebay ID www.1aautomotive.com ). I purchased things from them (carpet, mats from them in the past) directly so I felt better deailing with them (and they had a great price) $124 delivered. The part is made by Eagle Eyes (Taiwan).
They look and work great and although I am pleased they are no where near OEM in terms of quality, very apparent on things such as the locking ring (which I had to trim a little on the rear, too long). When I first installed them (99 GT) the drivers side fit well, followed body seams and flush with rubber gasket. The passenger side was another story, despite my best efforts I could almost get my finger between the fendor and the light, you realy cant install these wrong, the clips slide in or they don't. I looked at the assembly and the problem was easily apparent, the two lens assemble was glued to the housing without it being flush (big gap) so much for quality control.
I called the vendor, they shipped me another unit (did not ask for any payment information) and mailed me a UPS label. Had it in two days and fits perfect. Was impressed with the vendor and decided to order units for another car (Eagle Eyes again, similar qaulity but cheap $$)
If you buy them make sure you can swap one or two out (I remember someone else saying they gave up after two sets)
Hope this helps

ORIGINAL: mochrome
Thanks for the reply. I think I'll avoid the ebay aftermarket stuff and hold out for a set of genuine Ford headlamps.

You just want to replace the OEM headlamp assemblies with smoked ones?
Why not cover the existing lenses with smoked vinyl? Way cheap, lasts for years, if you ever get sick of 'em you can peel it off, if you never get sick of 'em just give 'em a shine now and then with 303 Aerospace Protectant and they'll look great. $49.95. And they come in four colors. Can't beat that.
Here's a whole bunch of pictures.
