Napa Echlin IAC
To all,
This board has been so helpful to me I thought I would throw something back.
I found myself today in need of a new IAC. I gave a call to a few Ford dealers and received prices ranging from $85-$95 with a gasket.
Autozone had a Wells unit (bad experience with their stuff) for $50 and Advanced could get me a GP Sorensen in a day for the same price. Was ready to just get the Ford unit (which I know was list price ) when I decided to stop by Napa. THey had a Napa Echlin for $40 with the gasket (was obvisouly new not rebuilt) and had the same casting numbers on the side as the OEM ford unit. Works like a champ. I compared old and new and it is exact.
Napa Part Number CRB229573 ($52 on website, $40 in the store)
PS. Does anybody have a contact for a Ford dealer that will discount mail order parts over the phone. On the GM side of the street (yes I have an LT1 Caprice wagon but chose my Mustang over a TA) we have Dal Slaubaugh (everybody knows DAL) about 40% off list more. I ask because I bought (2) new thermsotat housing bolts from the dealer last week at $7.50 each. Am not cheap but I hate being taken. Am ceratin I will need or want a dealer only item and I do prefer to keep my cars OEM
