Will anything bad happen if you rev an automatic above 6000 rpm while at idle in park?

valve float can happen 6200-6400 or so, any higher and you could slap a valve on a piston. its not good to do

So how is it something like this will happen but if you get a diablosport tuner with the rev limiter set too 6500 without any modifications to it.

What if you did do this but the car ran perfectly fine after this happened? No change in how the car handles while driving. No weird noises or anything in it.

I guess nothing happened since it didn't sit there for more than a sec if that.

your redline is there for a reason.

you can change the rev limiter to 10,000 if you want to, but it doesnt mean your engine is going to take it. if your car is still running fine dont worry aobut it. do not make this a common occurance though. just cuz diablo sets it higher doesnt mean its safe...thats the dumbest logic i've ever heard. you can get better valve springs and such and rev it a little higher but theres no point because 2v mustangs start loosing power a little over 5 grand.

go to wikipedia and look it up, both are on there.

You must have come fromrainbow skittlesland to be able to raise the rev limiter as high as youd like without problems, evenwith the stock cam.

What is a valve float?

Basically, the engine is spinning so fast, that the springs on the valves cannot bring the valves back up into position fast enough, and they start to "float", being open in a point in the 4 stroke cycle they are not meant to be.

Too much, and they can be open when the piston is in upstroke, and you get PTV contact.

Like people said, you CAN be alright, but it is like playing russian roulette.

I one time went 1-2-3-2. My car saw 7 grand. Scariest .25 second of my life. I was lucky, nothing got damaged.
