Hood pin laynard anchor point
I'm almost done installing my Ford Racing hood pins in my '99 GT, where do most people prefer to anchor the laynards? on the hood or core support?
If you install them on the hood they dangle in front of the hood when it is open. if you anchor them to the core support they can dangle on the bumper and possibly scratch it if not carefull.
Or should I go without and keep some spare clips just in case some jackass steals one or two.
Lets see you pics of your hood pins installed.

RE: Hood pin laynard anchor point
I never put the lanyards on my pins for that reason. You can still operate the hood without the pins, unless you deleted that, so just keep an extra. I've never had anyone steal mine, because when I installed mine I made sure it was a tight fit to get them in and out. You'd be sitting over my car yanking on the thing, but all you had to do was give a little downward pressure and then it would slide right out.

the ford racing lanyards are coated so they wont hurt the paint....i would just let them hang on the bumper, its not going to harm anything...if you had bare metal pins it would be a different story

Got pics? I may go that route.
I also don't want the laynards taking and flopping around and messing up the hood edge.
Did you install the lower hood pin plate under the hood or just the top plate?
Other then for a more finished look, I don't see the need to install the lower one.

mines not installed yet sorry....but i have the kit in my backseat...the lanyards are coated they wont do any harm....also, since i think hood pins are ugly, im going to be painting mine black to blend in with my car a little bit better...if i ever find someone with a welder that will help me out, ill get pics up \
oh yea...are you going to leave your stock latch so random people cant walk by and pop ur hood and steal ur battery and stuff? i have a $200 optima....i hate the latch though because it doesnt set right and i have to drop my hood from halfheight to get it to work...so i would prefer to remove the latch completely...but idk

I put mine on one of the bolts on the back of the headlight. So it comes out in between the lamp and bumper, and goes up to the hood. I think it looks pretty cool. I didn't have any other ideas for it.

i dont have laynards(or a latch)and i think it looks better that way. the only reason i even have pins though is because my latch got broke. with that said, if you mount the laynards anywhere it should be from the car itself, not the hood. the reason i say this is because, what if it gets caught on something? itd rip right out of hood. thats not exactly super strength fiberglassthere.
sorry, no pics right at this moment.
