I had shorties for a bit on my 02 GT and I was trapping the same MPH as long tube cars on here...

also.........I ran into an '03 Cobra guy yesterday who was flaming aftermarket throttle bodies, inlcuding the more expensive one's. Said they frequently experience failure for whatever reason. Told me to stick to stock throttle body and plenum for more reliability...........
That's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Please don't take any more advice from that guy. I've NEVER EVER heard of a throttle body, stock or aftermarket, "experiencing failure." What does that even mean? lol. It's a damn piece of metal with a blade inside that opens and closes.

Almost every piece on the market is a safe bet. Accufab, MAC, BBK, FRPP, PP, etc.....

Newbie to domestics here...........****, only 9hp from headers!!! Yikes!!

Just picked up an '03 GT.....stock except for K&N cone. I traded in my VQ Altima with full bolt on-'s.............and seeing this thread, now I know why I was able to pull pretty hard on some Mustang GT's from a roll over the past couple of years.............

Looks like bang for the buck, gears and H-Pipe are the best for starters.............and I see cams are dirt cheap for these cars!! Geez.........cams for my Altima were way out of reach at $1,500 per pair.

PS......Im a bit tight for mod $ now but would you guys say that H-Pipe and a couple of Flowmaster mufflers would be a cheaper way to go to free up some power? Seems the stock mufflers and the aft cats are real restrictive............
Gears, mufflers and a good H/X pipe will really wake the car up.

I know a local Ford mechanic who installed LTs on his GT. When I suggested he install them on mine, he said no way. Unless you have mechanical ability, it is one of those mods you do not want to do yourself. I've heard 10-12 hours if you are doing it in a driveway and not dropping the K-member. I had Automotive Specialist install mine. They have special tools in place to hold the motor when they drop the K-member.

But, now that I have LTs, I'm not sure they were worth the money.

It really depends on how good/patient you are. I've seen guys stuck on a lift for a week working on BBK shorty's, then again I've seen two day installs on LTs including dropping the K-member in a garage. So it really depends on how good you are with tools/cars and what your definition of an easy install is. They are by no means the most dificult install in the world, but it certainly get frustrating seeing your ca on jack stands for a week or so and thinking to yourself "**** I'm never getting this thing running again."

I wouldn't suggest doing the install in your garage either. I would def recommend using a lift. I did in my garage and it was just terrifying. Looking at your at car on the third day is the worst. But once it's installed it is all worth it..
