Default Timing Question URGENT!

Okay i have a 98 Gt with a PI H/I and VT Stage 1 Cams

when i first did the swap the timing chain was off by 2 teeth and made a OBNOXIOUS knocking sound so we fixed it the timing chain adjuster was our problem.

Today i was driving it i got on it very little did not even wind out the gear only to like 4500 rpms... as i was coming to a red light the car started to make a similar knocking noise to when the timing adjuster was off and the car stalled, then started up and was driveable other then the knocking noise, it seemed to be normal but i didn't want to risk it by getting on it.

my question is it possible for timing on the engine to become untimed

I already used a tethoscope to try to isolate the noise and it APPEARs to be coming from the timing chain on the driver side of the block. I took the valve cover off and everything (springs rockers lash adjusters) seems to be alright.

PLEASE HELP! lol

It iscommonfor an engine to lose it's timing- especially as the tensioner and belt gets older;although i think it's suppose to be more rare on chain driven enegines.

any loud knocking noises are probly not gonna be a good thing, and you should def. check your timing assembly, from top to bottom.
