Default CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION??

OK, this is in regards to power levels that our stock bottom end can handle. When people ask about supercharging our stock motors, other people say that the stock block can handle roughly 450 horsepower. Now, when people ask about how big of a nitrous hit our motors can take, the general rule is 125 shot max, which would put the hp at only 385 max with a 125 shot. So what is the difference in power with the N20 vs. the boost? Im just wondering because I have full boltons and cams and am making 292rwhp, which would put my crank power at around 335-340. So I roughly have about 100 hp left to max out the power of the stock internals..i was thinking about mabye a 75 shot in the future, which would be within limits of the stock bottom end if its 450 hp, but a 75 shot on top of the 80 hp Ive gained in boltons would roughly equal a 155 shot of juice if you consider stock is about 225 rwhp... so what the heck is the deal, can someone please clear this up for me?? Thanks.

I think part of the NO2 issue is fuel related, not so much the stock bottom end.. I could be wrong.. Although I will say, that with NO2, you're getting a SUDDEN shock to the bottom end, versus SC/Turbo is a more gradual increase in boost, therefore the wrist pins and piston ears don't take as ridiculous of a beating...

Remember, that even if tuned properly, your engine could only last a day or 2 at those power levels, or it could last until the wheels fall off....

i dont know EXACTLY why...but 2 things to consider

1) like the other guy said, nitrous hits all at once. its a HUGE shock on everything from your motor to your axles. its not gradually building like boosted cars.

2) ever see what the torque curve on a nitrous car is compared to a supercharged car? blown cars usually end up making less torque than they do horsepower. nitrous sends your torque through the roof. a 100 shot of nitrous is about 150rwtq if i remember right. torque is what twists axles...not horsepower.

This is what it boils down to. The rods and pistons in our cars are pretty crappy. I've seen some break around the 375hp range and others that were fine at the 500hp range. What I haven't seen is a stock bottom end make it 20k miles w/ 400+hp. I'm super conservative when it comes to things like this and I would build the bottom end before I started adding power at all. You can try it, but it's a gamble and it's not that expensive to build the bottom end if you do it yourself. Building it before you brake it is much easier and cheaper than after.

assuming everthing is in good working order and tuned properly you should be able to handle another 100 rwhp.
