i have a question. if i was visiting cali from jersey and i get pulled over, can i get fined for it not being smog or cali legal or whatever its called?

I'm pretty sure you can't since it is not registered in CA its not required to meet the standards.

i am not sure, but i would have to say yes, BUT only if you are also illegal in your home state like cats. removing cats is illegal in any state so it might be possible to get a fine in cali for it.

plus that is a hell of drive and i hope you like putting a crap load of milles on the car. should be able to see some nice views out of the window thou

It's been a few years since I've been in California, but I believe they just waive out of state cars past when doing the random stops.

You should be ok. I brought my car back from Hawaii and have been milking the out of state plates. I was running an O/R h with stingers, and like 15% tint, and have neve had an issue. I also don't drive like an idiot though. That is usually a big factor on how often you get pulled over.
