Default pi short block vs. npi short block

First off, this all about a 00gt. I threw a plug a while back and it severly damaged my piston. Compresion is fine butthe pistons lifeexpectancyreally worries me. I want to put new heads on, and thinking of cams while I am at it. Anyways, I was told that piconversion on npi blocks sit around 300hp, while stock pi have 260hp. Is this true? Could I justinstall new pi heads ona freshnpi short block and pick up a few more than new heads on a stock pi block? Im kinda ignorant when it comes to this, but I am curious to know. What should I do? Any other ideas are welcome...

no thats not true. NPI= 260 hp at the crank and a P/I swapped NPI= 265ish (due to raised compression).

you are so wrong^^.
the upped compression does help (9.5 up to 10.5) but pi heads, cams, and intakes are all more aggresive.
your hp numbers are off aswell npi is rated at 225 and puts about 200 to the wheels. where as a pi longblock sits at 260 rated and about 245 to the wheels
you are alot better off just putting new heads and cams on your current pi longblock.
if i were in your shoes i would just forge the bottom end and use new pi heads with a custom cam grind.

pi swapped npi shortblocks do not hit 300. maby 270 280 at the crank. and that is being hopefull.

yes it does give you a higher compression ratio npi shortblock with pi heads so instead of the pi motor having 260ish the pi swap will put you up there around 300 with exhaust and bolt ons.
