I'm looking at possibly buying a 2000 GT, and I just wanted to get some opinions/info from you folks before I do anything rash. It has 113k miles on it. It's never been wrecked or anything, but it clearly was a DD...the usual scuffs, etc., but nothing bad. They want $6990 for it, is that a good price? Are there any known/common issues with this model year that I should be aware of/look for? It's black/black, not that the color matters, just sayin'. Any input would be appreciated, I'll be going back this evening to have another look and a test drive...

Have an 00 gt with 140K. Intake manifold is just starting to leak at the thremostat housing, will upgrade to the replacement manifold with the aluminum coolant cross over, t-stat housing. No issues with timing chain tensioners or ticking from them. No advice on price, vehicle condition normally determines it. Maybe run a check at kbb.com or nadaguides.com. for a base line price & adjust for your particular vehicle.
For comparinson mine has all the toys, leather & a roof slider. Paid 5800 last August.

check the fluidsand smell them to see if they are burnt. do a compression test if you can, look underneath the car for any hackjobs to the exaust or damage from improper lifting. jack one of the rear tiresoff the ground and try to turn it buy hand to check the clutchs in the diff it shouldnt spin if its good. take it for another driveWITHOUT THE RADIO ON and listen for poping, clunking or squealing an it wouldnt hurt to take it around some twisties to check the tightness in the stearing. and lastly if it all checks out try to knock the price down a couple of hundred dollars.

Thanks for the replies. According to NADA, $6900 is the low retail for the mileage, so I guess it's not a bad price...

I think the price is a bit high, but that's my own opinion.

Just ask if the car has any modifications. Also find out as mentioned if it still has the plastic intake manifold on the car, or if it has been replaced due to failure or under warranty.

For the 9-10k mark you could get yourself into a 50-80,000 mile 00-03 GT.

It all depends where you are. kbb it with your location and see what you get. Around me one would go for muchh higher im sure. I got my 2000 gt last month for 8200 out the door, but it only had 72000 miles on it. It kbb for for 9000 so i did good.

Hmm, KBB says $8500 for my zip code...in excellent condition. I can't figure out how to get a "good" condition value, I don't see anywhere to adjust the condition.

But if the diference of this price($6900) and a good price boils down to 500 bucks or less, I'm not going to sweat it. My gf is a good negotiator, she may be able to get it down a bit.

I wish I had 10k spend, but 7k is pretty much what I have to work with.
