Hey fella's,

I am a newbie here on this site, as well as a NEWBIE with a 00 Stang GT. The guy I bought this car from was the second owner and he stated that the owner before him changed out some pully's on his supercharged "stock" motor and blew it up, ect..ect... had to replace the motor. He wasnt sure if he put a factory same year motor back into it, or if he put a newer year into it. The reason I ask is the label on the hood of the car rec. 5w30 oil, but the oil cap has 5w20 on it. It's COP, and nothing visible to tell me if it's the older 2valve, or the newer 3 valve. Where can I look on the motor to find out what year, and what type of motor it is?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Ohhh.... it also looks as though the ECM has been messed with as well, which leads me to think maybe he had a chip in it at one point, or if he went with a "newer" motor, he had to replace the ECM as well.

Im stuck, and have no idea how to figure this one out, as I am ignorant about these cars/motors, and have no idea where any identification numbers are on these cars/motors.

99,00,and maybe 01 recommended 5w30. The newer ones call for 5w20. Your motor is probably an 02 to 04.
