Ring and Pinion Question

Ring and Pinion Question
I want to do 3.73's in my 97 Mustang GT. I keep hearing that they really see improvements in acceleration. However, I also heard that they throw off the speedometer and odometer. I already have 40 series flowmaster mufflers, BBK o/r x pipe, hurst short throw shifter, and BBK fenderwell air intake. Two of my friends have 4th-gen Camaros, with 5.7L LT-1s in them(275 hp), and I want to be able to walk all over them. I can keep up for the most part now, but they are still a little bit faster. Also, in the Mustangs Unlimited catalog, the 3.73 ring and pinion set is for a 8.8 rear end, that is the one I need, right?

RE: Ring and Pinion Question
I went from 3:27's to 3:73's when I had my GT and it felt like a totally diff car. The hole shot was so much better it was insane. 4:10's are a lil steep for a DD with the GT's for me, but if I were you, I would really do the 3:90's as they are a middle man and you will not be dissapointed. They will offer you a lil more than you are looking for and also the "upgrade" you will prob. want in the future. I didn't go that route becuz I wanted FRRP's, but Motive actually made FRRPs' and are really equally as good! I changed out all of the bearings while I was in there and strongly reccomend you do the sae. My car was well maintained and only had 62kmi on it. The carrier bearings looked great, but the pinon bearings were shot. metal was flakin off them. Also, they get ruined when you try to pry them off the pinion shaft (I hear boiling them in water will make them slide right off) Still have to hammer, prefferebly press the new one's one! Good luck
