Most here use Mobil 1 synthetic oil. And for some stupid reason, you are not going to get a straight answer as to how much you need. Just get 5 quarts to be safe.

+1 M1 or RP. And although i have a 97' GT, they are both 4.6 L an so correct me if I'm wrong but both of our cars take 4.9 quarts, rounded up to 5

PS, I changed my oil last week and had a fckin hayday trying to get the oil filter off, it was on there so tight it took my friend and i hour lol. But Im also wondering if anyone can give me an answer as to why my dipstick shows no oil level when i check it. I put in 5 quarts last week after changing the oil and I havent noticed any oil leaking out or burning.

most will say motorcraft but I know that at pep boys if you buy a mobile 1 filter with mobile 1 oil you get like $2.35 off per quart. So you save like 20 bucs
