I read this article a while back. I have changed grears in differentials of this type in the past and I can say that based on my experience, this article is very good. Even if you've never done it before you could get the job done if you followed this article to the letter, just be aware that the tooth contact pattern is very critical. You MUST be sure to get it right as per the article otherwise you will have premature gear wear and whining sounds.
On a personal note, changing gears in this type of diff is a real pain in the ***. That's why many hot rodders use a Ford 9" because the entire center section comes out and you can work on it on the bench instead of under the car. When I change the gears in my Mustang (when I get it) I plan to get someone else to do it for me. It's such a pain that I'd just rather pay someone to do it. Just my opinion.
