Default Predator timing

I know this thread has been posted to death. I have read them all and still don't have the answers that I am looking for.

What is the difference between Performance Tune and advancing the timing? I thought the Perf. Tune did advance the timing. Do I try and advance the timing on top of the Perf. Tune, or do I take off the Perf? Tune then advance the timing. I am currently using 93 octane w/out any pinging. If there is more power to get from the tuner, I want it!
