Default Does brand matter when buying a Cold Air Intake System?

Hey guys I just bought my 1st mustang, completely stock. I was wonering if I buy a cheap CAI and then stick a K&N filter on it would it be just as good as the big name ones? I know that for my old car ( nissan maxima ) it didnt matter to much. Just want to know what you guys thought. Thanks in advance.

Now, a couple things here.... 1. you will not notice any worth while power gains from a cold air intake alone. 2. If it's shaped the same and made of the same material, reguardless of brand, it does the same thing. and 3. check americanmuscle.com im pretty sure i saw a nice 85$ cold air intake on their front page or in the sale section or something.

the roush intake is pretty much the only intake that will give you any power gain. 2-3 hp

If your in an area that rains quite a bit or has standing water, just go with a ram air intake. The idea is, a big pipe for more avalible air when you need it, and a highflow air filter. metal intakes do soak up heat, plastic one are suggested. if you like the idea of JLT's, just get some 4" pvc and an elbow or 2 and paint it whatever color you want, you'll end up with the same thing.

we did dyno tests on intakes for an '04 gt at my school and the roush was the only one that netted any hp. all the rest lost hp. we tried bbk mac and a few other big names. they didn't have jlt at the time but i'm guessing it might gain rather than lose hp.

Buy what looks best or just get a drop in wet filter.
