Default Tri-ax ease of shift?

Ok, so today we installed a tri-ax in Nanaki's car. Well, everything was fine, but the shifts required a fair amount of effort. Now he claims you have to jam it to get it into 3rd gear. I'm going to back off the shift stops even more now, but even so....

Should the tri-ax require more, less, or the same effort as stock? If it's the same or less, we have a problem...

I had the same problem on my 04 GT.

I installed the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter and the first 2-3 weeks were very tough to shift. I was getting really worked up, eventually after some time.. the shifts started improving and now they are superb.

When you first put it in, the shifts are stiff and notchy. Compared to stock, at first it will feel hard. But it will loosen up over time. You just have to get used to it, it gets better every time you use it. Mine was very notchy when I first put it in, which was only maybe a month ago, but now its getting smoother and I love it.

well, i have a blu thunder shifter, which is the same one as the tri-ax and it also requires more effort for me to also. it should require more effort for a short throw because of the decreased leverage. but his shifter will be alittle easier to get in 3rd once it wears in. takes like a week or two till it will be alittle easier.

how many miles are on the shifter? is it very old or just like used a couple weeks? could be it has to get use to that car? did you all put the plastic ball off the old shifter on the new one?

i don't think it has to do with the stops (just make sure the stops arn't too far IN (limiting you from putting it into gear) or you can ruin your tranny) But yea its deffinately going to be a little harder to shift. Shouldn't be too hard though. Did you see the post some other guy said about his triax and its so hard to shift that his hand was red lol. Yea shouldn't be that bad.

No, it'll go in gear, I know that. I followed the directions...lol. It's barely not touching with pressure in 1st.

Well it should totally go in. It is a very solid shift, clicks into gear. If everything was lined up when you put it in there should be no problems. You just have to bang it into gear. I missed second tonight because it bounced back at me into neutral, you just have to be rough and solid with it.
