too bad you just don't have the bolt in joints, i just did 3 of them on my blazer, 2 upper, 1 lower, they just fell right in except the lower, it needed a lot of finagaling to get that one seated.

For the Why: Your ball joints connect the steering knuckle (part that has the spindle, which holds the wheel) and the lower control arm, so that it can swivel and pivot as needed.

As for the When: Whenever there is significant lateral, or torsional slack, they must be replaced as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in a loss of control, loss of wheel, or damage to front suspension.
