Fords have notoriously noisy outter tie rod ends. Check them first.

yesss +1 the outer tie rod ends on my 96 tbird went out and did the same thing and guess what? my 98 gt is doing the same thing at the same mileage as the tbird...but on the bird all my bushings went badalong with thetie rod ends. my stangs bushings r still good tho. its an easy enough fix. even if u dont do it yourself its not too expensive unless u have to replace control arm bushings or something of that nature.

Check the simple things first--the serpentine beltmay beloose, or more likely hardened from disuse and needing replacement.

DEFINITELY, BAD LOWER BALLJOINTS! What you describe is the typical nylon insert balljoint moan. Replace them with a set of S p i c e r balljoints with greaseable zerke fittings.

the belts on our cars r self tensioning. and it would not be a belt any ways because he would notice the sqeak would be repetative w/ the engine rpm, totally different squeak. andyes ZERK fittings should already be on his ball joints. but they arent gonna do any good now itll just slow the deterioration but the sqeak will still be there. but while u are under there replace all the rubber once and be done w/ it. ball joints tie rods ends, control arm bushings etc etc.

I don't know why everyone is saying that his ball joints are bad...? I can almost guarentee it's his outter tie rod ends.

I have no idea what ball joints or tie rods are, other than involved in steering and the way the wheels are connected

I have a loud squeak as well when I turn my wheels back and forth.

Annoying yes. Do I NEED to fix it right away if it's one of these things?
