stock GT muffler cfm rating?
Hi.
I'm thinking about doing a 99-04 gt-takeoff for my 2001 v6, so I wanted to put some numbers together.
I'm guessing the stock mufflersflow about 280 each.
2.25 pipe flows about 410 cfm.
Thanks.

they will flow enough. the mufflers will give u a little under an aftermarket system but not enough to really matter. its the piping that does wonders. but on a v6 u would be beter off staying 2.25 untill your pushing more power

Forgive me, i may be wrong, but i always thought it was the muffler that really mattered, not the piping? Because you didnt really feel the effects of the piping untill the car was really moving

JBauer. You are correct. The muffler is more important because IT is the limiting factor, not the pipe.
Pipes always flow more than the mufflers or glasspacks or whatever they're connected to.
This is why I wanted to know the cfm (cubic feet of air per minute) that is allowed to flow through the stock GT mufflers.
I hope this makes sense.
