Default Loose steering wheel

Just wondering about my steering wheel. (I don't know much at all about front end stuff.) It has a bit of play in it, like it can move back and forth a tiny bit without affecting the wheels. Is there anything I can tighten? Is there any common causes for this? Am I going to need to replace something?

Tie rod ends is normally the reason for play. Jack up your front end and grab tire with your hands and see if thier is play in in the tie rods by rocking tire. Or get a helper to rock the sterring back and forth as you watch for play in the tie rod end.

I would check the rag joint on the steering shaft as well.

the rag joint is a rubber piece near the firewall side on the steering shaft.
