untill it does come time ti fix/replace it.....just try shifting that gear a little slower. its kind of hard to do when you are really getting on it. but if you shift slow, it prob wont grind.

as long as you can keep it from grinding any more, the problem wont get any worse.

ok, yes as long as i let off the gas even just a little when i shift instead of powershifting it doesnt grind, the pulling from 5 to 4 wont grind either if i take my foot off the gas.

I really don't know of a stock transmission that was designed for powershifting. Some tolerate it better than others, but eventually the scynchonizers will be shot and the transmission will have to be repaired or replaced. Since you said that your transmission behaves properly while speed shifting then your scynchronizers are probably still OK and should last a long time under normal driving conditions. Keep beating on it and you will understand the full meaning of "You've got to pay to play."

ok heres an interesting thought that i had; a friend told me he used to grind the syncros in his trannys when he used to build cars and you could powershift all day long and never wrry about it. Anyone hear of doing this? or is this only on older trannys?(he doesnt wrench anymore an he did carburated only cars)
